Okay, this has to be said first. I was bitterly disappointed by the finale of series three. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. I was bitter about it a long, long time. It felt like a slap in the face. I'd spent much of that series shipping Martin/Louisa like crazy, so when they both got cold feet and called their wedding off --- and there was this implication that it was because Martin is the way he is ("I couldn't make you happy") --- well, I was angry.
But I still came back for series four, because Martin, you guys. I am so in love with him.
We start series four with no Louisa in sight and a button reset in oh-so-many ways, but thankfully, a small hint here and there about what's gone before. Then there's Edith, whom I already hate, but who they seem to be playing a bit of 'old flame rekindled' with in regards to Martin. Until the very end when Louisa turns up with child.
I look forward to next week's episode, but I'm wary to love this show again. It broke my heart once. I don't want to be in pain again.
