2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
Awhile back, I asked m31andy to give me six icons to wax lyrical about.
Sex girl patrol is my favourite sketch by Canadian sketch comedy legends The Kids in the Hall. In terms of humour, it's actually probably one of their most conventional sketches, but it never fails to crack me up. Basically, it's a bad, bad parody film within the show. Dave Foley was ridiculously hot as a girl. Insanely. I was more than slightly confused when I saw him in a dress and realised I had a thing. I am no longer confused. The truth is; he was hot. So, so hot.
I kind of didn't realise I was madly in love with Sam as a character until I rewatched State of Play and kept comparing Cal to Sam. This icon is a reaction to that. There are a few completely amazing shots in State of Play, and this is taken from one of them; Cal standing in the centre of the frame, with everything around him blurring out of focus. It seemed appropriate.
Time is on my side, yes it is. I needed a non-fandom icon, and this was it. There's no significance of the time on the clock; I pulled up random clocks on stock.xchng, liked this the most, and added splashes of colour to liven it up a little.
Black Books! Okay, so the thing is, I am madly in love with both Mr Bailey and Mr Pegg, but for some reason, I only have this icon to show for it (my Hot Fuzz icons don't exactly count.) This comes from a wonderful scene where Simon's playing a jerkhead bookstore manager at the shop Manny has got a job at to run away from Bernard. Simon's character suggests Manny cuts his hair and hands him the means with which to do so. He uses this picture as persuasion. Every time I rewatch this I yell "no, Manny, save yourself!" at the screen.
Aingeal picked this one too, so clearly it speaks to people. Shawn/Pineapple. This is my Psych OTP. See, I like Shawn/Jules, Shawn/Gus, Shawn/Lassiter, and many other combinations besides. My only hard and fast rule is that Shawn has to have sweet, sweet love with his pineapple. Then I'm good to go.
This is a shot taken from my front yard (as in, my front yard up in the North of South Australia.) One night there was this absolutely stunning sunset. I didn't manip the image; it really was that orange, darkening into purple at the far reaches. The answer to the question 'is there life on Mars?' would be a yes, I think. I sometimes feel like I'm on another planet. But I love that.
Today I remembered this and asked aingeal8c for six more.
Zapp Brannigan from Futurama is one of my favourite characters, and I love quoting him. Brannigan's Law is like Brannigan's love, hard and fast. Hahaha. Just thinking about Zapp makes me laugh.
undeniablynikki made this and I think it's just beautiful. Once again I needed a non-fandom icon, and I wanted something serene and calming. I use this on comments that need some tact, and a "yes, it's a triumph" icon won't do.
This is my favourite episode of Life on Mars: 1.02. I didn't love the first episode, if I'm deathly honest. I quite liked it, but I waited a week to watch the next one (by that time, 6 episodes had aired in the UK. If I love something, I usually mainline as much as possible.) The next week I thought I'd give it another go because I adore Phil with the passion of a thousand suns; and suddenly everything clicked into place. Suddenly there was a show that could be as hilarious as it was dramatic. Suddenly I was watching everything I had available to me in one day and glee-fitting all over the place. It's scenes like this one; with Sam lying back on the grass, laughing and enjoying life, that made me love the show.
Psych/How I Met Your Mother --- Shawn and Barney would be complete BFFs. They are quite similar characters in many ways, although I'd like to think Shawn's slightly less messed-up, and is certainly less of a slut (Shawn is such a flirt, but I don't think he gets all that far beyond bantering, most of the time. The first episode of Psych disputes this somewhat, but it also contradicts other things that occur later in the show.) This icon says "a bro-match made in heaven", but it looks like it says "a bro-match made in beaver", and I find that teeth-achingly funny.
Black Books again. This is Dylan Moran behind the scenes fluffing a line and giggling. He's awesomely cute.
