The ending to Life on Mars 2.02 is just so damn amazing. The crack in Gene's voice as he says, "we arrest you" to Harry. Ugh. Ugh! This is why I shamelessly fangirl Glenister, everyone. The tremor of the hand holding the gun! And McNally? Oh my God. He's --- *double flail*
The direction is stunning, the acting fantastic, and the writing... in some ways it's such a strange scene, with Sam kind of just there, like the viewer, caught watching Harry, Gene and Glen almost act it all out in slow motion, but unable to do anything. But it's so powerful.
And then there's the scene. *dies* *a thousand times over* So. great. They stare at each other and no one can tell me that that's not love, I'm sorry. That is deep. The type of love --- well, that's up to you. But damn.
(Sam really is as fidgety as I sometimes write him. I knew there was a reason I include lines like, "he buzzed with frenetic energy" --- his hand is bouncing throughout that entire scene. If I wasn't concentrating on their faces so much, I'd find that very distracting.)
(Also, I just noticed; in the forefront, as we zoom in on the boys, Annie's sitting with one of the random authentic guys. She's got this great expression and she's asking, "how much do you smoke?" HAHAHAHA. Oh, Annie.)
1.02 and 2.02, the best episodes ever.
