It's a nice day for a white wedding...

What the hell is it about my favourite television shows ending in ways I detest? Why? Why do I fall in love with programs that decide to buck convention and end in an abysmal fashion?

YES, THEY SO COULD MAKE EACH OTHER HAPPY. Can't they see that? I was crying so much after that episode. Doc Martin is a comedy. It's meant to end in a marriage. Not *flails* that. UGH. UGH. I feel so betrayed. Why would you lead up to a joyous but imperfect wedding and then turn around and say, "oh, well, actually, despite the fact we love each other, we don't make each other happy, so it's not going to happen."

Do you know why conventional things are so popular? It's because convention is good. Because most audiences like knowing what they're going to get in some kind of way. It's unfair to set an audience up thinking they're going to get one thing and then deliver another.

It wasn't like it was going to be an impossible fairytale day, or ridiculously beautiful match between Martin and Louisa to the point of sickening sweetness, or that the writers couldn't then come up with all types of interesting storylines were they to have a new series. (I don't know if they are or not.) So I don't get it.

I keep getting duped by writers I admire. Fuckers.

Mum called up and we had a great big whinge about it, which was great.

It's always the shows I really love and look forward to as well. Always the ones I get super enthusiastic about. Oh.
