I have spent the past hour and forty-five or so minutes looking up and watching ventriloquists on youtube. Ever since I was a little kid, I've loved ventriloquism and puppets --- even the really creepy wooden dummies.
In a connected, but mostly tangential note, when I was little I was terrified of robots. There was this act on Paul Daniels once, scared the everliving shit out of me. I was so scared I was sick all over our awful brown carpet. My older brother Jez used to torment me with Terminator. I was even upset by Twiki on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (of all the things to be frightened of on Buck Rogers, Twiki was not one of them.)
I'm not sure where I'm going with this, only to say that the best way to have made the younger me implode would have been to be a ventriloquist act with a robot puppet.
