I honestly never thought I would be that type of fan, but this line enrages me.
"Gene has transferred from the Manchester of Life On Mars to London’s Met Police where he’s about to finally meet his match with DI Alex Drake. He can’t take his eyes off her, he desperately wants her, knows he’ll never have her – and at the same time she drives him up the wall!"
Gene had his match. His match was Sam. They wrote it purposefully so that they were matched. They reiterated time and again that they were partners. He can't have 'finally' met his match, unless Sam doesn't exist in this Gene's timeline.
I really never wanted to be a wanker on this, but I cannot help it. Not only is there the Sam problem, but Gene was married --- and deeply in love, if Roger Whittaker is anything to go by. So, what, tabula rasa? Death? Has she finally upped and left him like so many slashfics posit? [Guilty of that myself, so not criticising.]
Sometimes, because I have a massive head, I think people write these things just to infuriate me.
Also, Phil looks great, but his hair's still darker --- is this a lighting/photo colouring issue? Keeley's hair is ridiculous, but she's gorgeous as ever. I can like Alex. I probably shall like Alex. But that word --- 'finally', as if Sam didn't matter. As if Gene's wife didn't matter. God.
I'm that fan, aren't I?
