Ever since I started watching I've noticed certain... similarities between Farscape and Life on Mars. Is it that both of them are riffing off the same sources, the same motifs, or that Matt's [un]consciously mirroring Farscape, or am I reading too much into it?
After all, we know he's a SF fan, we know he's a giant geek (yay) and we know he loves Futurama, so it would make sense. Terrifying sense.
No, I'm not saying this because Crichton just said, "it's beer o'clock", mostly because that's an extraordinarily old phrase, and Ash wrote the episode of LoM it's in (then again, I wouldn't put it past them to swap lines and quotes, since Matt reused a quote Tony had used in an episode of Hustle.) It simply sparked me remembering this thought that's occurred to me time and time again.
