There are so many ways to misinterpret comments, or to misrepresent yourself through comments. I can't tell you the number of times I've had to engage in a conversation revolving around the phrase "I think we're confusing each other here," or "No, this isn't what I am saying." And I'm not even someone who generally courts controversy.
People have a history of miscommunication. It's even easier to entangle yourself in it when someone can't see the expression on your face, or the tone of your voice. The number of times I've been entirely facetious and had someone think I was serious... well, the proceeds would fund a five-star resort on Antarctica.
Are there any specific times this has happened to you? How did you deal with the situation? Was it worth all the fuss?
