Speaking of fandom, I've read more fanfiction this weekend than I have in my entire life, and all of it was good, and I feel both overwhelmed and proud and fantastic about it. I still have a lot of fanfiction to read too - the links are there, right in front of me, and I'll get to attack them later in the week.
I don't just read fanfiction, you have to understand. I will write it far more often than I will read it. I'll usually read pieces in challenges I'm participating in. I'll read whatever is posted on my friends page (er, unless it's NC-17 because I'm pure and white and little elves and lah di dah and really it just makes me uncomfortable because I am such a prude, you have no idea, I hide it well.) And maybe once or twice I've clicked on a fic recommendation and devoured the contents. But usually, it's just not a hobby of mine to sit down and read fanfiction. There are reasons. Most of them involve shiny objects. All of this reading, it's been an eye opening experience, in a good way!
And now I need to think more about a computer lesson involving farm animals, and look up a rhyme on the internet I can do with my kids, and very soon I'll be eating ice cream and currently I love my life.
