Rise of the Cybermen...
This is the episode which brought back exactly why this show used to terrify me.
No, seriously. My mind says 'haha! look, they're really quite cute if you look at their little faces!' but my stomach says 'evacuate, evacuate.' Tennant's acting there especially made that ending scene feel really, really scary. OH MY GOD EVIL METAL ROBOTS WITH HUMAN BRAINS BUT NO EMOTIONS. AND THEY WANT TO DELETE!
The sad thing here is that I was really thinking that. Hah. Yeah, I really like this show.
I loved, for instance, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" during the creation of the Cybermen. I think I may have mentioned before how much I love wildly inappropriate music during dramatic scenes. It worked wonderfully.
I really liked Ricky and Mickey. I hear that Mickey is universally disliked in Who fandom, but I don't mind him. Maybe I haven't seen him at his worst. Either way - the boy's a decent actor. I, um... I got teary with his Gran. Awww. Poor Mickey, you're not useless, sweetie. You figured out it was a Parallel world! You helped the Doctor find hope for the Tardis.
Still on the Mickey front, my mind went "why do you want the Doctor to follow you? Pure love, clearly". Ever since I got into due South once more, my mind immediately jumps to the slash conclusion. No. Please no. And once more - no. And I certainly did not entertain notions of general fandom awash with Mickey/Ricky... uh-uh.
Roger Lloyd-Pack pretty much never fails to amuse me. Ever. He's an amazingly versatile actor. And I LOVE hammy acting, especially in a role like that of Lumic. Also? FATHER AND SON ARE REUNITED ON SCREEN SORT OF ALMOST, OH MY GOD YAY!
I want to know what happens next. NOW! TELL ME NOW!
