That's right, the Russian communists, the killer bees, they're like this!..

Adelaide wades in a humid cloud. Rain patters on galvanised steel and the bedraggled recline in front of oscillating blades. It is the evening now, there's no sunbeam creating vapours. Only streetlights and headlights and lights in houses which will soon be extinguished as people leave lounge rooms to languor in bed.

They won't be sleeping. They can't sleep in this moist hell. They will toss and turn and curse and thank God that tomorrow is another day in a long weekend, made longer by undesirable weather. Some will lay and listen to the pitter rattle patter. Others will traverse towards an available source of potable liquid. All will moan.

Adelaide. The capital city of the driest state in the driest country in the world. Supposedly. But definitely, definitively, tropical this night.
