  • Music: The Producers Soundtrack in my mind!

When you got it, flaunt it...

Nick and I went to see The Producers today, and if I was incredibly perplexed about the American critics' reactions before, I'm even more confused after seeing the film. I was greatly impressed by Matthew Broderick and Uma Thurman, and I've been devoted to Nathan Lane since I was 11, so no complaints there. What did the critics expect? Subtlety? That wouldn't exactly work with the content. The musical numbers were good to look at and listen to, and the sets, costumes and choreography, as well as general narrative pacing seemed fine. It was over the top, but how could it be anything less?

Of course, I like musicals. I love musicals. As evidenced by the fact I'm always singing, my life is one big musical - minus the chorus girls and tuxedoed darlings. One day I may even get the chorus girls and tuxedoed darlings. This is not likely to happen, I know. A girl can dream, though, a girl can dream.
