Loz Cola

It goes like this, you have no choice...

In my family we celebrate Christmas. It's more about celebrating family, eating lots of delicious food and giving presents than it is anything else, but it's nice. It's a time where there's a lot of stress but a wonderful payoff when you witness another family member rip apart your poorly wrapped paper and see something they've wanted for a long time in their hot little hands. We don't get or do much during the year but when Christmas comes around, it's a free-for-all.

When I say family I mean my immediate family; my two brothers, Jez's girlfriend, Mum and Dad, Nana and myself.

This year, one of my maternal Uncles, his wife and two of my cousins from Interstate are coming over on Christmas Eve... and therefore are coming over on Christmas Day to partake of our Christmas meal and festivities. They invited themselves down to Adelaide because they haven't seen Nana for a while.

I know I should feel like a terrible, terrible, uncharitable, Ebenezer Scrooge-like person for saying this, but; I really don't want them to come. I really don't want them to come. I couldn't want them to come any less than I currently do. I barely know these people, and of what I do know of them I'm not particularly fond.

...

I am working on my people skills, you know. I do try.
