Before I spread the love...

I have to say there's this loser on the Battlestar Galactica 2004 imdb message board who's really narking me off.

He's an utter idiot. Really. He keeps going on about how the show is a "molestation" of the original, how it's a snub to Larson (who is the original creator of BsG and a consulting producer on the new show), how it's terrible that Starbuck was reimagined as a female character (he refers to her, in an extraordinarily sexist way, as StarCHICK). He's even complained that Jamie/Lee "Apollo" Adama is crap compared to Hatch's portrayal of his perfect Apollo, completely ignoring they're essentially different characters in many respects. He goes on, and on, about the same things, and links to (the few) negative reviews.

I just want to shove this boy's head down a toilet. He hasn't watched the new series (shock, horror - though to be fair he's in America), he refers to himself as if he speaks for all TOS fans (hey! I liked the original show too!) he doesn't listen to reason - and for weeks - since it started on Sky One, he has come and posted unfounded and pointless complaints about the program. Constantly talking about a "backlash" - which hasn't occurred in Britain, so why would America be that much more different?

Now I have reservations about BsG2004. I've said - it isn't anywhere near perfect. It needs some more humour, it could do with a little less repetition, and I haven't been bowled over by every episode. But I'm giving it a chance - I'm looking at the positives. I'm taking the time to assess for myself what I think.

This guy just posts utter biased and uninformed rubbish. What a wanker.

There. I needed to say that here, because if I said it on the board I'd get told off. :)

And just to confirm - I like the show in its own right, I've not been afraid to write bad reviews for things with my favourite actors in them before and I have complained about BsG2004 in my posts related to it.

E is even more than anyone that you adore...

What can I say about aikoamaya, also known as Adamslove (a long, long time ago) and more properly Rachel?

Well - she's from Canada - which automatically wins my approval because I hope one day to visit the lovely country and find myself liking all Canadians I meet :D. A fellow Harry Potter fan, someone who has always shown themselves to be friendly and helpful (if not a little quiet), aikoamaya really seems to be a great person.

I haven't spoken to her much - nor for a very long time, but hopefully we can rectify that.

V is very, very extraordinary...

Specialpastry is very... special... A legendary person whose brilliant reputation precedes her, I remember wishing I could be as well known and liked as Meg in my early CoS weeks (I'm almost there, right?). I completely love her LJ title, her various usernames, and her friendly and open nature. She's incredibly amusing and entertaining, but also her kind words and advice are very helpful too.

O is for the only one I see...

Tirwen, known either with a "star" or a "Lupin" can also be called Lily you know.

I think the first impression of Lily I had was "What's she doing posting so much about Snape when it's clear she's a Lupin fan?" Then of course, I realised she was trying to bring some objectivity into the discussion :D. She loves Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter (though I'm an evil person who hasn't read the books or seen the last 2 films, I respect LotR fans), and also many other fantasy series. She's always been nice to me, bonus points for that, and she's spread mayhem and chaos in the most charming ways.

L is for the way you look at me...

Christian is much like Meg in the sense that he was one of the people I really looked up to when I first joined CoS. I have to admit, I don't think I'd ever have met such great people without the Harry Potter forums - but I rarely associate aragog with Harry Potter, despite the Potterish name :D. Since joining CoS, I've gained even more respect for this Hurricane beleagued man who has a fantastic sense of humour, awesome taste, and interesting take on life. I love the various fandoms Christian follows, and his unwavering support for them too.

More to come tomorrow :)
