When it comes to male voices I love, I have a type...

I knew Seth MacFarlane was a fairly good singer, because I used to watch and not hate Family Guy back in the day. I didn't quite realise how much I'd love an album from him, until taurenova mentioned him being at the Proms the other day.

Enter Music is Better Than Words.

It is so fucking mellow, it's melting me down. His voice is like a warm blanket I never want to let go of, because it's deliciously comforting and fluffy. And then he busts out these huge notes and I am enraptured anew.

The songs are charming choices; standards that haven't been sung to death. It's all played straight, in the awesome way. Wow. I really enjoy it for what it is, even though I spent the first listen half expecting a bonus track of more MacFarlane typical fare. If you're like me and unabashedly adore Bublé, you might like this too.

I told you, right? The two Proms he's done have involved him singing songs from musicals - he's got an amazing Broadway voice.

A real sort of - deep-Frank-Sinatra-before-he-lost-his-voice kind of thing. I almost hate him for being so talented, tbh.

Yes. A few of the songs on the album are broadway tracks that have also been recorded as jazz standards. His rendition of The Sound of Music's "Something Good" is ridiculously delightful.

And yes, yes. That is it.

Oooh, you know what you should look for on the interwebs? It's called Seth MacFarlane - Swingin in Concert and it's video of a live stage show. I don't know if there's any overlap with Music is Better Than Words but it's worth looking for.
