Loz Cola
Wow.

... I just went past my sticky post. I dated it out of order several years ago and I have been on LJ long enough to surpass it. That's just wrong, somehow. Especially since I am almost literally one of ten people still using LJ.

I feel bad because I visit LJ a few times every day, and keep right up to date reading everyone's journals... But never update myself.

I should make a concerted effort, with pics again, as that worked last time!

I don't nearly comment enough. I read other people's journals happily, but don't respond, even though I know I should.

You're not the only one feeling that way.

I cannot work out how it is possible to have a conversation on Tumblr so I'm not overly attracted to it.

I can't either. I find tumblr very one-sided.

I definitely understand the allure of Tumblr for my mates who are more graphics oriented/looking for piccies of celebs etc., but to me Tumblr is the equivalent of teenage boys yelling "hey, watch this!" and I wasn't keen on that even when I was a teenage girl. *g*

I'm a bit of both, you know? I like to look at some pictures, but I want words, and I want to be able to converse too, and like you said, I can't see how that's properly done on tumblr. It's so clumsy for that purpose.

Actually the lack of a way to have a conversation might be a large part of its charm for many as people post something shiny and move on.

I have a (cobweb covered) Tumblr and I occasionally make forays over there to look for specific things but then I find myself frustrated by the lack of a way to have a conversation about it. I found a story over there the other day, just a short piece but quite lovely and I couldn't find a way to leave a comment.

I just checked. Got another seven years on my sticky-post. I do need to go update my sticky-posted "all about me" post, tho.

I post at DW and have it automatically cross-post to LJ, but most of the stuff I follow is on LJ.

Of course, I spend most of the time on Tumblr, because it updates so much. *eyeroll*

I seem to constantly get out of crossposting to DW.

Tumblr is a bane.

I'm waiting patiently for the big LJ revival ;-)

I know. *sigh*

I like some of the things it's done recently - like re-introduce the functionality for me as a free user to upload and post images, and make it considerably more user-friendly to do so than the old scrapbook used to be - and I've always preferred it to FB for having thread chats (and again - tjhe newish expand all button is nice) or for posting longer things. I find the filters easier to use (actually these days it tends to be more posting to a group rather than using them, but...), trust it more...

I think it could happen!

It doesn't have anything like the appability, and dropping the games probably wasn't a bad idea because I don't think there were very many of them - in order to really compete with a platform like FB, they'd have had to invest quite a lot of time and effort (and possibly cash) into expanding that, or basically copy the FB "anybody can make and add anything" type model... It serves a different purpose, but it does what it does well. Not necessarily better than anybody else (I've never really used DW or InsaneJournal all that much), and increased searchability would be nice, but I am rather fond of it...

Wait no longer, I'm back!

Just kidding.. simply stopping by... maybe...

The counter-revolution is coming! The counter-revolution is coming! :-D

Hello! Good stopping by timing ;-)

I'm on my second version of my sticky post for that very reason. 2010 seemed so very far away in the future, once upon a time. . . .

Craziness. I need to change it now.
12th-Sep-2012 10:55 pm (UTC)
does that mean you were not so forward looking?
13th-Sep-2012 09:46 am (UTC)
Apparently!
