MY THOUGHTS, LET ME SHOW YOU THEM, LET ME SHOW YOU MY THOUGHTS...

Teen Wolf 2.12

WORST DECISION EVER, SCOTT. DON'T CONVINCE STILES' DAD STILES RAN AWAY. YOU DICK.

Finstock is freaking out. He's oddly endearing when he's doing that.

Nice smashcut.

I love you, Stiles, so, so much, but seriously, bb, this is not the time to talk about kicking ass.

THE TRIPLE SHUT UP WAS GREAT.

Peter may be crazycakes, but he is excellent.

Telescope.

... they let Stiles go? I am really all 'whuh'? over that. MY HEART IN THIS SCENE. MY HEART. ALL THE AWARDS, LINDEN ASHBY. AND DYLAN TOO.

... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. IT'S CANON THAT DEREK IS ALL OLD-SCHOOL. That joke was great.

N'awww Lydia and Stiles. I still only ever want them to be friends. It turns out, I ship Lydia/Jackson more than Lydia/Anyone else. (The strange thing about this is that I have a history of always shipping someone who pines with the object of their affection --- like, everytime. But not here.)

SCARED DEREK IS THE BEST.

Dylan is scarily good at the whole acting thing. Poor Stiles.

We're allllll like: YAY, SCOTT, FOR DOING ONE THING RIGHT.

AND NOT A SINGLE PERSON WAS SORRY GERARD WAS SEEMINGLY DEAD. NOT A ONE.

I knew Stiles would come through in the end. I still think he's likely to break soon, though.

I really didn't want Jackson to die. So I was pleased he was reborn as a wolf.

Scott was pretty fabulous in this episode. Overall, the ep was, however, so DRAMATIC. I feel like it could have been balanced slightly better.

EPIC BROMANCE PERFECTION.

So. It wasn't a terrible episode? But it's kind of a cop-out to have so much return to status quo. I feel like we need way, way more scenes with Allison next series. And Lydia. I still don't really know why Gerard just let Stiles go, and I am wondering if there's going to be a reason later down the track.

Next series, I want to see some pack cohesion. I want Scott to realise he shouldn't try to be an Omega. I want Allison to rebuild herself and her life, and for us to see it. I want more Deaton and Ms Morell. I want Stiles to adjust his love for Lydia so that it's based on mutual friendship. I want Derek to stop being such a fucking idiot. And some more sassy Peter Hale. And epic Derek & Stiles friendship stuff. Because of this damn fandom.

I was all SCOTT YOU DID SOMETHING RIGHT! And then he said 'Because you're not my alpha' and was like NO SCOTT NO because all the Gods above Derek's betrayed face at that. Because Derek is expressionless so often it lends MASSIVE impact when he's allowed to emote.

Ugh. All their faces.

But also booo to the reset button get pushed a bit at the end. I did not like the implication that Stiles has a) bounced back from who he was at the beginning of Battlefied so easily and if they don't follow through in S3 I will be v. >:( over that and b) that he's still stupid enough to persist on the Lydia thing. I know that Dylan has said it'd take a lot to get Stiles over his crush - I figured seeing as Lydia's love for Jackson quite literally brought him back to life that might have been the thing. Apparently not.

I just. I care about these kids so much. I really don't want them to undo the character work they've done. I want them to keep pushing forwards.

On the other hand: I got everything I wanted out of the adults in this episode - Peter being sassy, Papa Stilinski being heartbreaking, Mama McCall being badass and Chris Argent Doing The Right Thing.

I would like to think that part of it with Stiles is him clinging onto the one thing he can? He thinks he's losing himself in so many ways, but his one constant is his crush on Lydia. So even though he doesn't genuinely think she'll ever fall for him --- he has to make that joke. That is a kind of normal he can cling to. He has to pretend. Because we know he accepts that Lydia loves Jackson. He knows he doesn't have much of a chance against that. But he needs some kind of normal right now.

I don't think Stiles is close to mended yet, not even a little. And I'll be interested to see how he continues to develop.

Yes about the adults! I didn't mention her liveblogging, but I was in love with Melissa this entire episode, and word on Chris.

... I don't know. It felt like too easy a finale? In the end there weren't that many sacrifices. They didn't really capitalise on Jackson's kanima Alpha stage. The whole "Stiles being let go" thing was either totally ridiculous, or is going to be a plot point next series.

Well, Stiles being hurt was supposed to be a message, right? (Presumably to Scott.) Not much point to a message if it doesn't get delivered.

I agree that it was a bit of a cop out ending. For all the talk of death, there wasn't much... dying. Or even metaphorical death through sacrifice/loss like I'm used to from Doctor Who. And a lot of character development seems to have gotten sidelined in the last ten minutes there. But I have some high hopes for next season - hopefully they'll pick up those character threads then, and just ended things optimistically here because they aren't really sadists, deep down.

(And a big fat WORD for all your next season hopes. Tensions between Jackson and (the rest of? is Jackson part of the pack?) Derek's pack and Scott and Peter could be interesting, but could easily get old fast. I don't want it to be a big part of the story.)

Except that Scott? Did not seem to care. Not even a little. So. You know. It didn't work in that regard. Also, Stiles pretty much had two boo boos on his face and that's it. He could have been injured more severely; broken bones, for instance, and it would have been a stronger message. Not that I want Stiles with broken bones, you understand, just that he did appear to get off very lightly.

I love happy endings, do not get me wrong. I am firmly in the "happy ending or gtfo" brigade. I was very pleased Jackson died but then came back. However, when you've been teasing that there will be death? You should really provide some actual death. At this stage, not even Granpappy Tigh is confirmed dead. It just felt like it was building up to MORE and we got less.

Had Scott even heard, though? Stiles was keeping radio silence up until he and Lydia crashed through that wall, I thought. And at that point Scott had bigger concerns, very few of which were actually Gerard and the power he turned out to not have over Scott. (And I would point out that we only see what injuries Stiles got on his face, but the way he talked to his dad it probably wasn't anything more than that, so. Maybe it's more of a "You know how much further we could have gone, but we showed restraint. As should you." kind of threat? IDK, it's weird!)

Oh, agreed. I was expecting Supernatural levels of "killing everyone for at least ten minutes each" death, not "well, his heart stopped for awhile! that's... technically death?"

This is why I think there's something suspicious going on. Stiles' insistence he's not a hero --- I'm worried he's really crossed some kind of line and has no idea how to step back. Fr'instance, I think he made a deal with Gerard that, unlike Scott, he's going to keep/has kept. It worries me.

Ooh, that is... spooky. I hadn't even considered - well, I've already meta'd over Stiles in the finale, presuming his "not a hero" statement was because he was ignoring Scott's call to arms/left Erica and Boyd trapped and in pain, but that. That would bring a sinister turn to things.

He's totally a good enough liar/actor to pull that off, too - and his relaxed attitude in that last conversation with Scott could easily be disguised relief that Gerard is gone, thus making him free from their deal... augh, now I'm getting worried too!
