Teen Wolf 2.06

This is such an awesome opening. I can't even with this opening. Also, yes please to scenes of Tyler H running. I rewatched 'Magic Bullet' the other day and very much admired him running and leaping on stuff.

How come Derek doesn't totally wolf out as an Alpha? Is this a choice thing?

Really, Allison? That is what you're running with? Oh, honey. Scott's been rubbing off on you, hasn't he? (Ew. Minds out of the gutter. You know what I mean.)

AWESOME FIGHT SCENE. I could have done with more of that.

The kanima wasn't really going after Granpappy Argent there, so... huh.

Sarcasm is Stiles' only defence. ♥ ♥ ♥

OH NO, NOT DANNY! Jackson-kanima totally just wants to see his friend.

OH, THIS SHOW. HAHAHAHAHA. Fannish tropes out the wazoo. As amusing as this shot is, it's kind of gratuitous.

HAHAHAHA. SCOTT. He is the most adorable. I can't hear what the blond guy's saying. So now I wonder, was that guy nodding at Scott or Stiles, and is Stiles therefore jealous, or annoyed he's being teased?

Oh my gosh.

I don't trust this guy and he is way too pushy. Punch him in the throat, Lydia.

I can imagine there are a few annoyed fans 'round about now. (Oh, the stereotypes, Sheriff Stilinski. The stereotypes!) I like that Stiles is all, "I could be gay!" It's like the reverse of 'no homo'. (I feel the need to point out that there are more options than a binary.)

Yeah, right, Stiles. You wouldn't be mentioning it if it didn't mean something to you.

I have so many Jackson feels right now. Poor woobie Jackson. He's just so broken inside.

Creepiest grandfather I have seen in a long time.

Allison's whole family are complete crazycakes. Poor Allison.

Danny continues to be the best.

These two are so adorable.

All of the product placement in this episode is amusing the crap out of me.

Hahaha, this show. So amusing. Niiice juxtaposition there of love-scene/transformation-scene. With swelling music! That was positively Victorian. IF YOU HAVE SEX, BAD THINGS HAPPEN!

Of course Lydia knows Archaic Latin ♥ ♥ And ahah! Master, not friend.

Total fake-out! I seriously thought Stiles was going to tell his dad the truth. I'm a little bit disappointed that this isn't what's happening.

I felt like the pacing of his episode was off again, but I enjoyed it!

Apparently wolves shift in different ways depending on their strength and personality? The show runner's mentioned it once or twice, and I think it ties into what Derek said about shapeshifters last episode too. So where Laura turned into a wolf proper, Peter turned into something more monstrous. That said, your guess is as good as mine about why Derek's stalled out at the hair-fangs-and-claws of betas.

I wonder about Grampa Argent and Jackson. If Jackson's seeking out a master, he'd certainly be good for it. And he's clearly got no qualms about taking advantage of the kanima situation to get at his real target...

So it's kinda fascinating that Derek is still mostly humanoid. Either he's really not that strong yet, or he values the human side of himself more than he lets on? (I'm thinking of all the times he protects humans, particularly Stiles. How he pointed out there were 'ordinary humans' in his family.) Thank you! I'm still mostly in the "watch the show, write some fic" mode of fannishness --- plus, I've heard tell that Davis is an A++ troll of his own fandom. I stopped reading fic when I started writing my own, but I'll probably get back to it afterwards --- that's generally how I do things.

Granpappy Argent would so do that. :/

I'm leaning more towards the valuing humanity side, myself - now that he knows who the kanima is, you can argue he's trying to stop Jackson because he feels responsible, but before? He was just trying to stop it from killing people. If he was really only concerned about his pack, he'd leave the monster killing to the hunters.

You're probably better off sticking to the show-and-fic fannish experience; the fourth wall is worryingly thin in this fandom. Like, basically everyone involved with the show knows what Sterek is (ugh, portmanteau ship names, why), actors regularly mess with fans on both twitter and tumblr, and yeah, Davis is a pretty awful troll. It's all very uncomfortable for people as easily embarrassed as me, though I do still follow Davis for the tidbits of background info he sometimes gives up during twitter q&as.

Grandpa Tigh is fucking creepy. And thus a perfect candidate for Jackson's master.

Also, holy shit, when Pack Scott were all on about how Jackson has no friends (WHICH IS A LIE HE HAS DANNY) and he cried a patented Dean Winchester One Emo Tear? I ACTUALLY WELLED UP TOO. Colton is crushing it this season.

Not enough Derek (obviously my reaction, he's my favourite obviously) but what we got was the awesome action!Derek I've been missing.

The gay bar stuff was great! Danny getting over an ex (Danny has an ex!), Stiles surrounded by drag queens all "well observed Scott", some dude buying Scott a drink (would've been the perfect time for a callback to AM I NOT ATTRACTIVE TO GAY GUYS?) all the way through to Stiles on the verge of (pretending to) coming out to cover things up. His I COULD BE GAY was also fantastically played. I still think there's a lot of room for bi!Stiles so I'm pretty happy with that. I kinda loved the way Stiles looked down at his clothes in confusion when his Dad said 'not dressed like that' all 'is this why gay guys don't find me attractive?' (Never getting over his obsession with that.)

Desperately annoyed that they won't just tell Lydia what's going on. (I also think they should tell Danny because, I mean, Jackson's his best friend.) Also annoyed that no-one is recognising what's going on with Lydia at all. I mean, this being Teen Wolf, I know that's going to cause problems later on and is all part of the plot. It's still super frustrating.

Jackson's single tear also had me all choked up. I maintain that when it comes to this show's actors, Colton is at the top of the younger cast, very closely followed by Dylan. Only he can make a douchenozzle like Jackson relatable and sympathetic. He's also not too bad topless, although I have to admit, I was feeling bad for him by, like, minute thirty-five.

I actually agree with you about not enough Derek. I am hoping next episode has a lot more, even though he wasn't in the preview a whole lot.

So that guy was buying Scott the drink? That makes me so happy, if that's the case. Stiles is totally not happy about how unattractive to gay guys he is. And yeah, I am fairly firmly in the "Stiles is bi" camp.

Like you, I am annoyed at how Lydia is expected to just ignore everything going on around her, and then be dismissed when she needs to talk.

He is ridiculously good. He's layered Jackson in such a way that, even though you know you should probably hate him because you knew that guy, you love him. Magnificent. Oh, I know right? That was a lot of shirtlessness. Bless him.

<3 I just miss his face a lot when he's not scowling about at people. There's a similar episode in S1 that made me sadface for the lack of him.

It was that guy! Have a .gifset to highlight it for you. The commentary on that gifset is dead on too - Scott is a superb role model for the straight teen not getting freaked out by gay dudes. MORE OF THAT TV. And more of people like Stiles being ultimately grousy about it as well. <33333

THIS, right? Lydia is SO SMART and she was one of the first to see Peter Hale/The Alpha and live, she was viciously attacked, she's hallucinating like Jackson did when Derek clawed him (only worse I guess) she deserves to be cut a bloody break. I hope it's soon.

I find myself missing his unfortunate face too, what have you done to me, Jen?

I think the thing that's confusing me about the whole "that guy's paying" bit is --- is he only paying for Scott's drink, not Stiles' too? If it's for both, why is Stiles annoyed? How does Scott know it's for him and not for Stiles? I am basically analyzing a single twenty-second joke.

Lyyyyyyydia. I hope the Colin Morgan lookalike leaves her alone. I still think he's tied to her hallucinations. I actually think he looks similar to Peter Hale, which brings up Voldemort associations.

Heee. I've incepted you into his face! MUAHAHAHAHA etc.

I think, I mean, I make the assumption because Scott is the main PoV character of the series and so it's his gaze we're following when he looks at the guy? Also just before that Stiles does his whole 'coke's fine! I'm driving!' thing which sort of implies he's making his own order by that point? Why can't I stop ending statements with question marks? (If the dude did buy both drinks for them Stiles is still annoyed because the dude raises his own drink to Scott - which, as I said, a judgement based on PoV and camera work stuff.)

I do like the fandom theory that the blue-eyed stalker boy is actually young Peter Hale and thus all in her mind.

Speaking of stalking! I very much enjoyed that, in the absence of Actual Creeper Derek Hale, a bunch of other characters got to do his move instead. Stiles, Allison and Lydia, to be precise. This show knows us so well.

Okay, good, thank you! It's kind of been bugging me, if you couldn't tell. Now I can just wallow in the deliciousness that is Stiles being jealous because his friend was the one who scored drinks from a gay guy.

Other people think the Morgan lookalike is Peter? Okay. He so is, then. Didn't the flower seem similar to wolfsbane?

Gosh, this ridiculous show. ♥
