Suits (Mike 2)
My brother Nick has been a John Mayer fan forever, so I frequently find myself listening to him. We both agree he's a complete douche as a person, but I find myself increasingly not hating Mayer's music. Case in point; the lyrics for 'Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey' are freaking ridiculous (a major refrain for this track is "whiskey whiskey whiskey, water water water, sleep"), but it's musically lovely to do shitty pedantic grammar work to. Do I gain any music cred back by saying in this same playlist I also have The Civil Wars, Angus & Julia Stone and The Audreys?

To cap this off, how proud was I to hear a song that's not 'Somebody I Used to Know' by my boy Gotye in Suits the other day? Pretty proud.

I find myself like John Mayer's *music* theoretically. The type of sound he makes is pleasant to my ear -- I like the register he sings in -- but it just doesn't pull me in.

I like to do pedantic work to Mozart. It really works for me.

As to Somebody I Used to Know, that song has been showing up all over the place and in several fanvids to boot. Is this where I admit that I like the Walk Off The Earth Cover? I don't usually like covers much.

I should listen to more classical, but I tend to need something with lyrics, even if I'm not really listening to them? I'm someone who's always going to prefer human voices, but couldn't take opera while needing to concentrate.

Yes, that song. I don't want to sound like a hipster, but as you no doubt remember, I was posting about that, and Gotye, YEARS before anyone else. I also think the Walk Off The Earth version was amazing (but I am someone who adores good covers.)
